The method of controlled ischemia is a groundbreaking technique in functional rehabilitation (therapeutic exercise) that allows therapists to initiate rehabilitation immediately after an injury or surgery without the need for heavy loads. With simple limb movement or minimal loading, the recovery process begins. The induced ischemia fatigues the muscle as if it were subjected to maximum load, resulting in the accumulation of lactic acid. This triggers the central nervous system to send growth hormones to the area. This early mobilization, achieved with minimal load and without the risk of injury, produces results equivalent to those of maximum loading, which would typically occur much later in the rehabilitation process. The benefits include preventing muscle atrophy and joint injuries. BFR is applicable in both sports injuries immediately following trauma and in patients unable to exercise with heavy loads.

Benefits of the MAD UP™ System:

1. Blood Pressure Monitoring: Ensures accurate monitoring of blood pressure in both supine and upright positions, with the system taking 11 readings to provide an accurate average for maximum safety.

2. Patient-Specific Calibration: The system determines the pressure applied to the limb, constantly adjusting to maintain consistent parameters throughout the session.

3. Dual Output: Can simultaneously activate two limbs on the same or different patients.

4. Metronome Function: Sets exercise intensity for the patient.

5. Real-Time Monitoring: Displays heart rate, blood pressure, repetitions, and start/end times for each exercise repetition during the session.

6. Muscle Contraction Histogram: Provides real-time data on muscle contractions, helping the therapist track the patient’s progress.
